Mark May

Mark May co-founded Needham & Company’s Internet & Digital Media group in March 2005. Mark is the long-tenured Internet analyst on Wall Street - having begun his career at Hambrecht & Quist (H&Q) in the late 90s. In addition to guiding the strategic direction of the sector group at Needham, he also leads the firm’s institutional research effort in this area. Mark’s research is based on a deep understanding of a variety of related consumer Internet and digital media sectors, and leverages his relationships and nearly decade of active coverage of the Internet industry. His coverage includes both well-established public and newly-emerging private companies. By leveraging the Internet, mobile and other digital mediums, these companies are transforming the communications, content and commerce industries and, along the way, creating opportunities for both consumers and investors.

Mark has been recognized as a ‘Best on the Street’analyst by the Wall Street Journal and as an ‘All-Star Analyst’by AlwaysOn. He has appeared as guest on CNBC on several occasions, and is regularly quoted in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and other leading media publications. Prior to joining Needham & Company, Mark spent five years at JPMorgan Chase (and its predecessor firm Hambrecht & Quist) and Kaufman Bros. covering the Internet and media industries. He is a graduate of the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.
