Mark has participated in the region's ever-evolving health care community his entire life, and health care has become his personal and professional cause. The son of a Spokane, Wash., physician, Mark spent many childhood afternoons at his father's family practice learning the importance of service, community and family.
His passion for transforming the way people experience health care is the cornerstone of his vision for Cambia. Achieving this goal means staying true to the company's community-based roots and making it possible for people to help each other when they need care.
Mark has translated his dedication to serving others into an extraordinary record of community service, currently as vice-chair of University of Portland Board of Regents, Boy Scouts of America–Cascade Pacific Council executive board and The Dougy Center Capital Campaign Leadership Cabinet.
Mark's professional and community service includes positions as a member of the board of directors of America's Health Insurance Plans, Chair; Portland General Electric Company (NYSE: POR); University of Portland Board of Regents (Vice Chair), Greater Portland Inc. (Co-Founder and past Chair); TriZetto, GNS Healthcare; Oregon Business Council (executive committee member); Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association; Boy Scouts of America-Cascade Pacific Council; The Conversation Project; The Dougy Center for Grieving Children and Families (Capital Campaign Leadership Cabinet); and Jesuit High School.
He earned both his undergraduate and law degrees from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. While an undergraduate, he was a staff member for U.S. Senator Henry M. "Scoop" Jackson (D-Wash).
