Mark Allewell is a successful serial entrepreneur based in Cape Town, South Africa. He started his career in the hospitality industry in South Africa, before opening the doors to his first company, The Frontline Training Company. TFTC, offered training to the hospitality industry in and around the Western Cape.
After running the training company for two years, Mark started a publishing company, to provide hospitality news to frontline staff. With the successful sale of Frontline News, to a venture capitalist in 2005, Mark started Tourism Radio, a location based radio station for tourists. As the Tourism Radio grew, it was featured on an innovation programme on the Discovery Channel . It was here, that is was seen by a German Angel Investor, who purchased the company. Two years on and Tourism Radio has expanded to New Zealand, South Africa, Spain and Namibia.
Tourism Radio has also recently forged into the social network market with the launch of hummba.com. A location based social network for travellers. Hummba.com allows users to access location based audio through their mobile phones, track where fellow travellers are.
