Lorenz Bogaert

The internet company Massive Media, created in a student’s room in Ghent, was recently sold for 18.9 million euros to the American media giant, IAC. You could say that 2012 was a good year for Lorenz Bogaert.

Even so, quite a few observers had written him off when Netlog succumbed to Facebook and Twitter. But Bogaert never gave up, and together with his partner in crime, Toon Coppens, he launched Twoo.com, now the world’s biggest online dating site. Not many people have two such success stories in a row. Bogaert has also learned from the mistakes he made with Netlog. For example, this time he joined up with a cash-rich company, but remains the head of Massive Media. “We have no shortage of plans”, they say. “It would be stupid to let ourselves be taken over completely by another company with the growth potential that we have. We want Twoo to be the biggest in every country, in every town.”
