Laura Glading has enjoyed a 35 year professional career at American Airlines and is currently serving her second four-year term as President of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants (APFA), the largest independent labor union in the U.S. with over 16,000 members.
Her election to the top post comes with years of union experience and having held various positions within the APFA organization, all of which have helped her prepare for the many challenges she has faced and continues to face.
Laura Glading has worked tirelessly in Washington advocating flight attendant issues and has provided important testimony to various Committees on the Hill and the National Mediation Board (NMB). In addition, she has worked with the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) and the Coalition of Flight Attendant Unions advancing the Flight Attendant profession.
Laura Glading attended St. John’s University and later Northwestern and Cornell Universities where she gained valuable training in negotiations and alternative dispute resolution. She lives in Westchester County, New York, with her husband and son and commutes to Texas to serve as APFA President. She credits her husband and family for their support which has enabled her to serve the Flight Attendants at American Airlines.
