Larry joined Rive as co-founder and Chief Executive Officer in 2005. Previously he was the principal founder of Aspen Technology and served as chief executive officer from 1981 to 2002. During this time the company grew from a start-up to become the leading provider of technical software and solutions to the chemical and refining industries. He led Aspenâ€™s successful initial public offering in 1994.
In addition to his business experience, Larry has a strong technical background. He served as professor of chemical engineering at MIT from 1962 to 1990, where was well known for his work in modeling and optimization of industrial processes. He was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2002. He also served as President in 2007 of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE).
Larry holds his BS from the University of Oklahoma and an MS and PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Michigan.
