Kristal Bergfield is a co-founder of ultapay and a marketing and business development executive who has led teams to plan and execute marketing initiatives and formed innovative partnerships for world class brands.
After nearly 15 years in the corporate world, Kristal has embraced the tech start up community in New York, consulting for e-commerce and publishing start ups, developing forums to connect start ups with people and companies who can build their business, and co-founding ultapay.
Kristal spent eight years at American Express and was most recently Director of Strategy & Business Development in OPEN, the small business division. Known as a collaborative and creative thinker, she lead a team that identified and developed vital new revenue streams by forming strategic partnerships with digital media companies such as Clickable and Facebook. Additionally, Kristal created and managed the revenue generation program for OPENforum.com, American Express’ award-winning social network for small business. In that capacity, she developed and managed relationships with American Express’ largest global partners such as FedEx and Marriott, to integrate their brands into the site. Prior to this role, Kristal was the chief-of-staff for the president of the $4B small business division, helping to manage and develop strategies across all operating units, and was a key player in developing new customer acquisition channels with retail banks.
Prior to American Express, Kristal managed public relations programs for several of Microsoft’s Windows Server products, and worked at a start up advertising agency. Kristal was awarded an MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS from the University of Oregon.
