Krishna (Kris) K. Nair is an Entrepreneur in Private Equity and Defense Systems.
He’s a General Partner at Opdrage, a ‘Mentor Capitalist™’ and VC firm focusing on building and nurturing early stage ventures in Technology, Aerospace and BoP.
He’s a Sr. Partner at IncuCapital Fund, a seed stage VC fund promoted by BSE listed IndiaCo. Ventures.
Mr. Nair is also the Chairman of the Board at The Travancore International Group, a private equity fund for aerospace and defence technologies.
Back in 2010, he Founded the Kerala Business Angels Network (INR 80 Cr Angel Group) and since 2006 he’s a Mentor at National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN), connecting 600+ colleges in India.
Kris Nair co-created a Hybrid Business Model for BoP markets and he’s slightly famous for creating & nurturing 100,000 women lead micro-entrepreneurs in the BoP markets.
Before conceptualizing Opdrage, Mr. Nair was heading the Corporate Strategy and Development at Satellier Inc. where he helped ENR Top 500 Engineering Companies in engineering work share advisory and transition strategy.
He was the part of the founding team and the investors in creating and executing firm strategy and managing a P&L more than USD 20 million. Passionate about sales and marketing, he worked with the leadership team in expanding the business beyond United States; to Europe, Middle East and Australia.
As a Co-Founder, he was instrumental in Satellier’s business development strategy and global market entry & pricing strategy. He drafted firm’s India strategy to focus on taping India’s construction market. He worked on diversified programs including market innovation, program management, product management, sales and M&A.
Satellier Inc. is an investment portfolio of Sequoia Capital and Indian Angel Network.
Earlier, he spent many years as a market analyst and management consultant and counseled CEOs and Boards of leading global companies in outsourcing, software, and technology sectors on broad-ranging business issues including corporate strategy, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and business turnaround.
Previously, Kris Nair Co-Founded two companies (Navigator Media Intelligence and IMI Consulting) & exited both the companies with 10X returns to its stakeholders.
Kris Nair learned the basics of Applied Physics from Kerala University, Management from The Wharton School (West) and Leadership from the Indian Military Academy.
He spends his free time teaching and enabling entrepreneurship at leading business / technology schools (Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship at IMT Ghaziabad and IIFT Delhi) and tracking asteroids.
He sourced and sold science magazines (including SciAm) to his school friends when he was 9 years old, while other kids were busy saving Mario’s girlfriend.
