Katherine "KT" Moortgat joined MDV, where she leverages her experience with academic innovators and entrepreneurs to lead MDV's university relations.
Prior to MDV, KT was founding director of the UC San Francisco Center for BioEntrepreneurship. She established UCSF's hub of training, mentoring, and networking for scientists and clinicians aiming to commercialize life science technologies. She also worked with university leadership to develop strategies for industry partnering. KT has advised NIH and NSF on supporting entrepreneurial science and innovation, and has spoken nationally on the topic.
KT was a Sloan Postdoctoral Fellow at UC San Francisco. Prior, KT earned a PhD in Biophysics at UC San Diego and at the Salk Institute. Her bachelors and masters degrees in Physics are, respectively, from UC Berkeley where she was a Regents Scholar and UC San Diego.
