Justin is a 28-year old entrepreneur and venture investor from Cape Town, South Africa. He is founder, CEO, director, advisor, or investor to various companies, mostly in the information technology sector.
Since deciding to depart high-school early to pursue his business ambitions, and subsequently founding his first startup at age 18, Justin has been involved in startups and entrepreneurial endeavours.
After struggling to get started in 2001 in the wake of the dot-com crash, he forged on for several years, and went on to successfully launch and grow his 100%-Internet based company from a garage in the suburbs of Cape Town, using a desktop computer, phone and an old 166Mhz PC as a FreeBSD-based server on the floor.
He is today the co-founder and CEO of diversified investment holding company 4D Innovations Group (4Di Group), which manages all joint business interests with long time business partner Erik van Vlaanderen.
He is also founding partner of early-stage technology venture capital firm 4Di Capital, the formal VC arm of 4Di Group.
As co-founder of the Silicon Cape Initiative, Justin fully believes in South Africa’s potential as a global technology innovation hub. In 2011, he was listed in the Mail & Guardian Top 200 Young South Africans for the year.
Justin’s other passions include performance cars, great food and wine, boating, photography and making music. One of his personal side projects includes JMR Records, a small independent music company for the digital era.
