Julian Mellicovsky is Argentinean, born and raised in Buenos Aires and currently resides in Washington, DC. A self-proclaimed food tourist, Julian created the site “BookOfCooks: What’s cooking in your neighborhood? “as a way to channel his passion for international cuisine and experimentation, and to connect people in search of a particular cuisine or dish with locals who may be willing to cook it”. Julian had the idea to create BookOfCooks (“the first online marketplace for prepared foods and cooking skills”), after several years living in the U.S., during which he often found himself missing some of his grandmother’s home-cooked meals or craving for regional specialties from around the world that were not available in restaurants or supermarkets. On the site, users can navigate the maps and find local “cooks”. Chefs, bakers, artisans, and food aficionados can showcase and monetize their cooking talents. Julian has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from DiTella University, and an MBA from the F.W. Olin School of Business at Babson College.

Auto-proclamado turista de la comida, Julian creo el sitio “BookOfCooks: ¿Qué se está cocinando en tu vecindario?” como una forma de canalizar su pasión por la cocina y la experimentación, y para ayudar a conectar a gente en busca de una cocina o plato en particular, con aquellos que pueden cocinarlo. Julian tuvo la idea de crear BookOfCooks (“primer mercado online de comidas preparadas”) después de años de vivir en EEUU, extrañando las comidas caseras de su abuela y deseando probar platos de distintas partes del mundo que no estaban disponibles en los restaurantes o supermercados.
