Joseph Kopser is the CEO and co-founder of RideScout, an Austin startup working to revolutionize how people view ground transportation. He is also Chairman of the Defense Energy Center of Excellence.

Before building RideScout, Joseph served for 20 years in the U.S. Army, including an assignment in the Pentagon as a Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff. During his Army career, he earned distinction as a Cavalry officer, Bronze Star recipient and Army Ranger. Joseph graduated from West Point as an Aerospace Engineer in 1993 and subsequently received a Masters in Government Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.

In November 2013, the White House recognized Joseph as a Champion of Change for his work as a Veteran in Clean Energy. He is also a Next Generation Project Texas Fellow at the Strauss Center for International Security and Law at UT-Austin with a focus on Energy Policy. He serves on the Board of Directors of CleanTX and is a founding member of the Steering Committee for the Defense Energy Center of Excellence Initiative (DECoE).

RideScout is a member of CEA, ATI, TVL and sfciti. The company is also a 2014 recipient of the US Department of Transportation’s Data Innovation Award.

Joseph lives in Austin with his wife and three daughters.
