Jonathan Hirsch founded Syapse after observing first-hand the inefficiencies in technology management and product research and development from the university, startup biotech, and pharmaceutical sides of the biomedical industry. He recently graduated from the Master of Science program in Biological Sciences at Stanford University, focusing on neurological diseases and therapy commercialization. Prior to coming to Stanford, Jonathan worked at Abbott Laboratories in the Neuroscience Commercial Development division, where he was responsible for developing strategies to fund drug development through the use of partnerships and private equity financing. He has served as the Business Development Manager for three startup biotechnology companies, securing successful partnership deals with a number of commercial and government entities. Jonathan received his A.B. from the University of Chicago, where he majored in Biology and Political Science. While at Chicago, Jonathan helped establish the positive effects of exercise on promoting neurogenesis in the hippocampus and combating Alzheimer’s disease, and worked at UChicagoTech, the university’s technology transfer office.
