Since joining Unity as CEO in 2014, John Riccitiello has been a driving force in the successful launch of Unity 5 – the company’s next-generation multiplatform engine and development tools. Previously serving as CEO of Electronic Arts, John played a critical role in the company’s transformation into a mobile, online, and digital gaming leader, with subsequent revenue growth exceeding $1.6 billion during that time. John is also an active private investor, serving on Unity’s board since 2013 as well as Syntertainment, Telltale Games, and a few other higher-ed and non-profit boards. In addition, he was an investor and advisor to Oculus.
John joined Electronic Arts as President and COO in 1997, helping start EA in a phase of rapid international growth. With his help, EA increased its global market share significantly, diversifying its product portfolio and growing rapidly. John left EA in 2004 to found Elevation Partners, a private equity partnership focused on the media and entertainment sector. He returned to EA in 2007 as CEO, leading the company’s transformation into digital, online and mobile markets. During John’s tenure as CEO, EA’s digital and mobile revenues increased nearly 5x to $1.6B in 2012, making EA the leading western digital gaming company in 2012. In 2004, John was also a co-founder of a private equity firm, Elevation Partners, raising and investing a fund of $1.8B in a number of successful media and technology companies.
