John McCrea is the General Manager of Tunerfish, a recently-launched social TV startup owned by Comcast. John joined Comcast via their acquisition of Plaxo in 2008, where he was VP of Marketing.
John has been a web entrepreneur since 1994. While at Silicon Graphics (SGI), he launched two early Internet businesses: WebFORCE, a line of high-performance turnkey web servers, and Cosmo Software, the first creative suite of web authoring software. John also struck the very first website sponsorship deal (August 1994), and coined the term “Powered by…†as the de facto standard for such promotions. In 1998, John co-founded Affinia, a pioneer in contextual web advertising. John joined Plaxo in 2006, as the company’s first VP of marketing, where he led a brand and product turnaround that paved the way for the company’s acquisition by Comcast in 2008.
John earned an M.B.A. from Stanford University and an S.B. from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
