John Green’s experience in television news media, and in the area of morning shows in particular, have helped him develop a reputation as one of the most creative producers working in network news today. A 13-year veteran of “Good Morning America,†ABC television network’s flagship morning show, Green has become known for his ability to produce everything from hard news to soft news and entertainment, in formats ranging from taped specials to very intricate live broadcasts.
John Green began his television career as a freelance news writer at a Boston CBS affiliate, and over the next decade and a half gradually attracted attention and acclaim for his work as a producer. Green ascended the career ladder at ABC News as a young producer, eventually earning executive producer titles on hour-long news and feature specials for ABC Magazine Shows “20/20†and “Primetime,†including a recent breaking news special, “California Burning” anchored by Charles Gibson, which aired during the 2007 California wildfires. “Planet Earth”, another special executive produced by Green, was an unprecedented hour-long April 2007 special anchored by Diane Sawyer which featured environmental reports from all seven continents.
As Executive Producer of Special Programming and Development for ABC News, John Green is responsible for the creation and launch of new news programming to be aired on the ABC television network. John Green is also the creator (and Executive in Charge) of “Good Morning America’s Weekend Edition.†Green’s creation airs nationally every Saturday and Sunday morning on ABC. John Green’s production work has been recognized by his peers, and he is an Emmy, Peabody, DuPont, and National Headliner Award-winner.
