John Engates

John Engates is Chief Technology Officer at Rackspace Hosting.

His role as CTO at Rackspace is to drive the innovation and development of services and technologies that will benefit Rackspace’s hosting customers around the globe. Currently, Engates is focused on Rackspace’s efforts to bring a full suite of cloud hosting services to market to complement their managed hosting and software-as-a-service offerings.

Engates has been at Rackspace since August of 2000. Prior to joining Rackspace, Engates was one of the founders of Internet Direct, one of the first Internet service providers in Texas.

Engates is a graduate of the University of Texas at San Antonio and holds a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
