Trained as an IP litigator and transactional attorney, John has a broad range of experience counseling startups in the areas of IP, product management, and corporate strategy.
Formerly of Securify (acquired by McAfee) and Zynga (IPO in December 2011), John currently advises Big Bold Labs, KlickPush, and two stealth startups.
John holds J.D. and LLM degrees from Duke Law School, an M.A. in philosophy from Stanford University, and a B.A. from Loyola University Chicago. He began his legal career at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, and also worked for the preeminent law firm in Australia, Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
The author of numerous articles on law and technology, John understands the contours of today’s legal landscape as well as where the law is heading in the future. For example, John’s work on standardizing patent protection was presented in 2007 to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee during hearings on the Process Patents Amendment Act of 1988.
