Update

John Chapple was the former CEO of Nextel until its aquisition by Sprint in late 2005.

Chapple began his position with Nextel in August 1998, prior to which he was President and Chief Operating Officer for Orca Bay Sports and Entertainment in Vancouver, B.C.

From 1988 to 1995, he served as Executive Vice President of Operations for McCaw Cellular Communications and subsequently AT&T Wireless upon their merger.

Mr. Chapple has previously served as Chairman of the Personal Communications Industry Association, Cellular One Group, and as Vice-Chairman of the Cellular Telecommunications & Internet Association. He has also served on the Board of Governors of the NHL and NBA.

Chapple currently serves on the Syracuse University Maxwell School Board of Advisors and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Business Alliance Board of Governors. He graduated from Syracuse University and Harvard University's Advanced Management Program.
