Over the past 12 years, John Cambier has developed a deep understanding of technology commercialization and company formation, with broad experience managing intellectual property, licensing and contracts. In addition, John is a seasoned financial manager with operational and investment expertise.
As chief financial officer and a senior vice president of NC IDEA, John manages the company’s financial strategy and serves as treasurer in addition to his roles with the venture capital investment team and board participation with portfolio companies.
John began his career at the Microelectronics Center of North Carolina (MCNC) in 1994 as the program coordinator for advanced packaging and interconnection research and development, including monitoring and reporting for federal research contracts. MCNC developed new technologies and served as a research partner for the U.S. government, conducting advanced and applied research across a broad technology spectrum, including MEMS, flexible electronics, sensor development, signal electronics, wireless systems, microfabrication, high-speed networks, network security and grid computing.
