John A. Beane has been involved with San Diego startups for more than 20 years, over 14 of which have been in executive management positions. He was an original member of local companies such as Pyxis Corporation (now CareFusion), Bridge Medical (acquired by Cerner), CardioNow (acquired by Agfa), and Asteres Inc., where he was co-founder. These organizations raised in excess of $100 million in venture funding and resulted in exits totaling more than $1 billion. In these ventures, Mr. Beane has been tasked with inventing technology which does not exist for markets that have yet to be established. He considers the mentoring and motivating of the teams that build these systems with him among his competencies and certainly among his pleasures.
Mr. Beane holds five US patents. One in a medical video image capture system that stores these images in the cloud and provides streaming worldwide. The remaining four patents are specific to automated kiosk technology. Mr. Beane expects a European patent for kiosk technology to issue soon. Additionally, John has four patents pending in the US and five foreign patents pending in the EU, Canada and Hong Kong.
Mr. Beane was educated at the University of New Hampshire, where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science with a Minor in Spanish.
