Jim Thomas is the founder and CEO of Itemize LLC, an e-commerce personal shopping agent service. Mr. Thomas is an expert in the field of electronic payments, data analytics, and information products. His areas of focus include building innovative information products from large consumer information assets, by integrating data sets with advanced mathematics techniques and multi-dimensional taxonomies.
Prior to founding Itemize, Mr. Thomas advised global banks and payments companies in the USA, Europe, and Asia on strategies to harness their data as valuable information assets, through his consulting firm, Information Asset Strategy Group. From 2003-2007, he served as the Senior Vice President and Global Practice Leader for data analytics and information products at MasterCard Worldwide. During that time, he led the commercial development of the company’s information assets, including creation of the company’s flagship Spending Pulse™ economic reporting products, its Commerce Intelligence suite of customer behavioral analytics offerings, and the shopping-based Purchase Clusters segmentation product set.
Mr. Thomas was previously a Vice President at First Manhattan Consulting Group, a leading banking strategy consulting organization in New York, where he concentrated on customer behavior analytics and payments product profitability initiatives. Earlier in his career, Mr. Thomas held positions at Morgan Stanley and Booz-Allen & Hamilton.
Since 2005, Mr. Thomas has also served on the executive board committee of Cultural Vistas, a New York-based charitable organization that facilitates international professional exchange programs and internships.
