Add Partners
Jim Martin co-founded Add Partners after an 18-year career at 3i plc, where he was most recently Director and Head of European Technology Investing. Jim was an early pioneer of technology investing in Europe, and under his leadership 3i’s European Technology business grew from 10% to 60% of the firm’s overall business. When Jim left 3i in 1999 to found Add Partners, the 3i’s technology portfolio was valued at $1.6bn, invested in 500 companies. To date, some 300 of those companies have been successfully sold or listed. Previously, Jim was Director and Head of 3i’s Cambridge Technology Fund. He also founded the Quantum seed funds and was formerly Chairman of the EVCA Technology Group. Jim is a fully qualified Chartered Accountant.
Jim is Scottish and holds an AMP from INSEAD and a BA in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde.
Jim serves on the Board of Directors of Njini and is an observer on the Board of Directors of Apertio.
