Fastener.io is a consultancy performing outsourced corporate & business development and publisher acquisition — serving both consumer digital content publishers and their surrounding platforms.
The company was founded on April 16, 2013 in the heart of Santa Monica’s Silicon Beach by Jay Westlin whose first start-up consumer digital content company launched in 1995 and partnered with many companies including Compuserve and Mark Cuban’s AudioNet (later renamed Broadband.com and acquired by Yahoo!). Before Fastener.io, Jay was Executive Vice President of Corporate & Business Development at Spin Media (previously named BUZZMEDIA) where he was originally recruited in 2007 to help turn a company called Buzznet.com into a publishing group with more than 100 million global unique visitors per month across 40 digital publications including desktop/mobile web, mobile apps, and a YouTube Multi Channel Network.
Before SpinMedia, Jay was a Vice President at AtomicOnline (sister company of Gorilla Nation and now part of Evolve Media) which owns and operates 50+ websites primarily in men’s lifestyle (CraveOnline) and women’s lifestyle (SheKnows, of which, recently sold to Great Hill).
In total, over 20 years of business development experience in media, entertainment and advertising (more than 15 years, of which, are consumer digital). Multiple-time Founder, Executive Team Member, Advisor, and Mentor.
