My name’s Jason and if you’ve found your way to this page it probably means you want to know a little more about me. Well, where should I start… I’m 28 years old, have a dog named MJ, a wonderful family, and a love for design. My unique collection of life experiences have granted me perspective on applying creativity across several mediums, as well as how to conjure success in the face of challenging circumstances.
Growing up I loved video games, sports, computers and the creative arts (a weird combo, I know). When I wasn’t playing video games or in front of a computer, I played youth soccer at an elite level winning multiple state and western regional championships. At the age of 17 I captained my team to a USYSA National Championship and earned a scholarship to Cal State University Northridge, a Top 10 men’s soccer program. When I wasn’t on the practice field I studied both Psychology and Graphic Design which granted me a unique perspective on user behavior and application UI/UX.
There’s quite a lot that translates fluently from elite athletics into design, business growth and team management. Focuses like clear communication, emotional intelligence and good old hard work for starters.
In 2005, I got my first real design job in the form of print and clothing art for a company named Cozy Clothing. After getting my feet wet in print and graphic design for a few years, I began to study web development with the goal of furthering my reach as a creative designer. This desire to learn development coupled with my vast knowledge of the video game market manifested into an opportunity to co-found DLGnow.com in 2010.
DLG allowed me the opportunity to experiment with innovative business models, raise 6 figure funding, and manage in house and remote development teams. All while receiving mentorship from incredibly intelligent individuals including Google Product Managers, Dropbox founders and successful CEO’s. The knowledge I’ve gained over the last 4 years in particular is what enables me to produce at such a high level.
It’s that same start up energy, self discipline and know-how I bring into every project I work on, team I work with, or business I work for.
All in all, I hope that helped fill in some of the blanks a bit. Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better and let me know if you’d like to make something cool!
