James is an entrepreneur, web developer, marketer and sideline electronic music promoter and aficionado.
Born in New Zealand in 1981, he grew up in Auckland, where he attended the University of Auckland. After graduating in 2005 with a Master of Commerce in Marketing, he moved further south within New Zealand to Dunedin. In July 2005 he joined eMedia Limited, a web design and development firm.
It was here that the opportunity arose for James to become Sales and Marketing Manager in October 2007. In this role he attained substantial success alongside Jason Leong (GM) and the entire eMedia team in a turn-around of the firm, leading to a successful acquisition in May 2008.
Following this, he founded PocketSmith alongside Jason Leong and Francois Bondiguel in June 2008.
He is also a co-founder of The Distiller, a Dunedin-based cluster dedicated to allowing web entrepreneurs to bring ideas to fruition through collaboration, networking and sharing of common experiences.
