James is co-founder of Spacebar.fm (with Greg Miller), a start-up bringing additional revenue to emerging local bands and venues that support them.
James is an active performing and recording musician (currently The Waybacks/Compass Records, James Nash & The Nomads, James Nash & The NashVillains). He serves as co-curator of TEDxAlcatraz and was a featured performer of the 2011 TEDx Global Music Project. James has been interviewed in Wired, Guitar Player, Acoustic Guitar, Flatpicking, and Dirty Linen. His music has been featured on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered and Folk Alley, and he is a contributing writer and reviewer for Guitar Player.
James is also a software engineer who in 2000 worked with the founders of Pandora to create the Music Genome Project. He was an early developer for data warehousing startup Stanford Technology Group (acquired by IBM), and a Server Technologies engineer at Oracle Corp (networking/security, data spatialization, source control).
