James Cavanaugh has been a Managing Director of HealthCare Ventures since 1988. He was previously president of SmithKline & French Laboratories–U.S., the domestic pharmaceutical division of SmithKline Beckman Corporation. He had been president of SmithKline Beckman’s clinical laboratory business and president of Allergan International.
Earlier Dr. Cavanaugh served in numerous senior posts with the U.S. Government on the White House staff and before that at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
Prior to that he was a member of the faculty of the College of Medicine and the Graduate College at the University of Iowa.
Dr. Cavanaugh received his Master’s and Doctorate degrees from the University of Iowa.
