James is responsible for the digital activities of Conde Nast International (CNI), and also sits on the group’s Executive Committee. CNI publishes over 100 magazines under iconic brands including Vogue, GQ, Wired and Vanity Fair in 23 countries outside the US. It also operates over 70 websites, 100 apps and multiple social media presences around the world.
James was formerly CEO of OpenX (Openads), the world’s leading independent ad platform for web publishers, serving billions of ads daily across 100+ countries.
James joined OpenX from Skype, where he served as its first Vice President to run the global Business Development team. He later took responsibility for Skype’s activities and performance across Europe.
James previously held a range of senior commercial and general management roles at Yahoo!. Prior to that, he co-founded and ran www.upmystreet.com, an award-winning local information business, following a successful career in the Investment Banking Division of JP Morgan Chase.
James also serves as a Non-Exec Director of NMSI Enterprises, a group of museums which includes the London Science Museum.
