Jacob is an open source hacker, natural language processing expert, and co-founder of Weotta.
In November 2010, Jacob’s book, “Python Text Processing with NLTK 2.0 Cookbook”, was published by Packt Publishing. The book is a guide to Natural Language Processing techniques using Python and the Natural Language ToolKit. Jacob continues to write about Natural Language Processing, Python, Django, and Erlang on his blog, where he is known as StreamHacker.
Jacob has been an active open source developer since 2003, when he started working on the Gnome2 version of Seahorse, a desktop encryption utility, which is now included in the default Gnome distribution. More recently, he is a contributor to and member of the NLTK project, and has contributed to various Python & Erlang libraries on Github.
At Weotta, Jacob works on the complete technology stack, which includes everything from sentiment analysis and plan generation to web development and interaction design. He is also the de-facto system administrator, ensuring the linux servers keep running efficiently.
