Jacob “The Jeweler” Arabo
My passion for jewelry began as a young boy growing up in my native Russia. Two years after relocating to the United States with my family, at 16 years old I enrolled in a jewelry design course hoping to develop my natural talents, and quickly became the star pupil of the class. So taken with my abilities, my instructors urged me to leave the course after only four months to begin my career. I opened a small booth in NYC’s bustling diamond district and began designing for a number of jewelry labels and private clients. Five years later in 1986, I opened Diamond Quasar-my existing business-and began designing my own label Jacob & Co. In the mid 1990’s a then up and coming R&B singer by the name of Faith Evans stumbled upon the Jacob & Co shop while choosing jewels for her upcoming album cover. Completely taken by my creations she returned with her husband - the late great Notorious BIG. The couple became loyal customers and recommended me to a host of their high profile friends spawning a sizeable buzz throughout the music industry. This resulted in Jacob & Co being heralded as the place for jewels and my current moniker Jacob the Jeweler.
