Ian Tien is co-founder of SpinPunch, a company developing infrastructure for high performance browser games.
Prior, he was VP Product at a Sequoia-backed startup in the motion picture and entertainment industry partnered with Warner Brothers Studios and Sony Pictures. Previously, Ian headed product management for Microsoft’s consumer cloud computing offerings extending Windows to the web. His portfolio included SkyDrive, Office Web Applications, Live Mesh, Windows Live Photos, FrameIt, and Favorites. In 2009, he served as interim lead for the Hotmail product management group.
Before then, he led and managed engineering teams for the Microsoft Office SharePoint group, developing dashboarding and business modeling capabilities now integrated into Excel, SharePoint, Visio and SQL Server product lines. He holds several patents in Microsoft Office technologies.
Previous to Microsoft, Ian worked in product development at Trilogy Software in Austin, Texas. He’s an alumnus of Waterloo, Cornell and Stanford. At Stanford Ian served as a research assistant for Andy Grove, and teaching assistant for Myron Scholes.
