Ian, Zaarly’s CTO, formerly ran the technology consultancy Cohesive specializing in bespoke web applications. Cohesive has helped offer Ford Models full public access to all of their talent data and expand TeuxDeux.com to handle the 200,000+ userbase. Internal Cohesive projects include BellaFolio, a portfolio management system for photography professionals and HeroScale, an autoscaler for Heroku applications.
Prior to Cohesive, Ian was CTO of cocodot.com, a digital invitation and event commerce service aimed at the upscale market. Ian oversaw all development and orchestrated integration with partner brands including Oscars, Ralph Lauren and Target. Cocodot was launched at TechCrunch 50 in 2009 and has since been featured in publications such as the Today Show, Oprah Magazine, People, Vanity Fair and Daily Candy.
Ian has led technology at a number of companies including Transactis, a leader in email based transactional ecommerce, ePublishing.com, a leader in ecommerce capable content management systems and RollStream, an B2B partner/contact management and vendor compliance system.
Ian attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and graduated from the Computer Science department with a concentration in behavioral usability. His thesis project was the creation of a 3D virtual UML editor using OpenGL and CAVE.
Ian is an expert in Ruby technologies and teaches and lectures on both Ruby and Rails. He is an avid amateur pilot, flying Cessna 172’s out of Santa Monica, CA
