Hiro Tamura is a Partner at Atomico, actively looking for great teams and companies globally and leading overall portfolio management of Atomico’s funds. Having joined the firm in 2008, Hiro has led Atomico's growth to become a leading institutional fund manager. This includes overseeing the raising of Atomico's latest fund, Atomico III, which closed in November 2013 at $476 million, three times larger than the previous fund. Having worked with Niklas in the global expansion of Skype, Hiro has over 15 years' first-hand experience in helping high growth companies expand internationally. Hiro has extensive international experience, both as an investor and entrepreneur, and works closely with Atomico's portfolio companies on their international strategy. Before he joined Atomico, Hiro co-founded a principal investment firm based in Tokyo, deploying over $300 million into Asia based investments. He also founded Triple Junction, the technology consultancy that helped Skype grow its business rapidly in Japan and through Asia Pacific. Prior to founding his own successful companies in Japan, Hiro was the first employee and Head of Japan at IRG, the Pan-Asian merchant bank dedicated to technology, media, and telecommunications. Hiro began his career in institutional equities at Lehman Brothers in New York. Hiro received a BA in Economic and International Studies from Northwestern University in the United States.
