Henrik Gürtler was born 11 August 1953 and is a Danish citizen. He holds an MSc in Chemical Engineering. In 1977 he joined Novo Industri A/S as an R&D chemist in the enzyme division. After a number of years in various positions within this area, Henrik Gürtler was in 1991 appointed corporate vice president of human resource development in Novo Nordisk A/S and in 1993 corporate vice president of Health Care production. In 1996 he became a member of corporate management and has since 2000 been CEO of Novo A/S.
Henrik Gürtler is chairman of the board of directors of Novozymes A/S, Copenhagen Airports A/S and COWI A/S, and member of the board of directors of Novo Nordisk A/S.
