Giorgio Gori - Chairman
Giorgio Gori was born in Bergamo on 24/03/1960. After achieving his A Level in classic studies, he has taken the degree in Architecture and began his television experience in 1977 like author and host of programs for a local channel. And then for a private radio station. From 1981 to 1984, he worked as journalist: first for “Bergamo Oggi†and then for “Giornale di Bergamoâ€. In May 1984 he worked for Retequattro as Assistant to the Head of the Schedule. From September 1984 he worked in the Programming Structure of Fininvest Group. From Scheduling Deputy Manager since January 1987, he was appointed as Programming Director in September 1988. From March 1989 he was in charge as Scheduling Director of the Fininvest Network. Within the new directive organization ambit of the television area, he was nominated, in April 1991, General Manager of Canale 5. During this time he contributed to the strong growth of the Network and he achieved in few years the supremacy of the share leadership contesting it to Raiuno. From May 1997 he became the General Manager for Italia 1. In few months he launched a series of new programs, all of great success and achieved excellent results for the channel. In February 1999 he become Planning and Development Scheduling Manager of the Mediaset Networks. From 3rd November 1999 he moved back as General Manager of Canale 5 and from July 2000 he was in charge also as Web Manager of Mediadigit. Canale 5, under the managing skills of Giorgio Gori increased its share target till the historical overtaking to Raiuno (both in Autumn 2000 and first months of 2001) becoming the first Italian Channel.
