Gerard currently serves as Nokia’s Global Head of Content Strategy & Portfolio Development in New York. Prior to that, he was Head of App and Media Distribution, running the global and local store and preload operations.
Previous to Nokia, Gerard was at Orange in London and Paris, where he took on several roles; director of strategy and business development for the content division, UK head for a start-up offshoot, Next.com and Group Head of Music and Video where he headed up product development and multi-country roll-outs. At Orange, he led the launch of several cross-platform group services and closed over 25 strategic technology, social and content deals across 12 countries.
He is the founder of the Mobile Entertainment Forum’s European Chapter, where he served as its chair and global board director between 2005 and 2009. He was also board member of DDEX, a consortium aimed at streamlining the digital media value chain. Before his MBA in 2000, Gerard worked as a freelance journalist for United Business Media publications, reporting on the impact of the internet on the music and traditional media business; co-founded a music imprint and ran his own consultancy business.
