George Hoyem is a Managing Director with Blueprint Ventures. George brings more than 20 years of entrepreneurial, operations and venture experience in high technology companies. He has backed, supported, and served on the boards of over a dozen emerging technology companies.
George’s current investment focus includes software, security, IT infrastructure companies, and Corporate IP Spinouts.
Previously, as a Managing Partner at the Redleaf Group, George headed up their Silicon Valley investment office. At Redleaf, George led several key investment and successful M&A transactions. Prior to Redleaf, George started his investment career with El Dorado Ventures, a Silicon Valley early-stage technology venture firm, where he spearheaded several software infrastructure investments.
Prior to becoming a venture capitalist, George built an 18-year operating career with several prominent technology companies. As the General Manager of Hewlett Packard’s Internet Commerce Division, he was responsible for a $40 million P&L. Prior to HP, he held several executive positions in marketing and operations with VeriFone, including VP of Software Marketing and General Manager of the Internet Commerce Division. George was a key contributor in the $1.3 billion sale of VeriFone to Hewlett Packard.
Prior to VeriFone, George was co-founder and Vice President of Worldwide Sales for Visix Software, a Corporate IP Spinout of AMS (American Management Systems), which he helped grow to $20 million in sales. He has also held other management and sales positions at American Management Systems (AMS), Federal Data Corporation, and Tektronix.
His current board responsibilities include Astoria Software, Atreus Systems, IntelliPath, Platform Solutions (PSI), SpectraSensors, Vidient, and Visto. George also serves on the board of TEGSCO, a $20 million San Francisco-based municipal services supplier.
George holds a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with a minor in computer science from Western Michigan University. George is a native of Michigan and enjoys bicycling and fishing with his wife and their three children.
