Gareth designs software behavior.
Before joining Xtranormal, Gareth owned and operated the design and marketing consultancy Iforma Research, where he refined the methods he has developed over his 17 year career.
Before incorporating Iforma Research, Gareth worked in Business Development at Avid, responsible for cross-divisional 3D product strategy. Prior to that, he ran Product Management for Softimage, for whom, while it was a division of Microsoft, he played a leading role in the design and development of Softimage|XSI, the VFX industry’s most advanced 3D visual effects and character animation system.
One of the two accredited inventors of non-linear animation (the track-based animation mixer), Gareth drove the creation of many patented technolgies for Softimage, Microsoft and Avid, including key developments in the fields mesh modeling and node-based visual programming systems for technical artists.
Prior to Softimage, Gareth worked as a designer and animator in the UK post-production & games industries, based in London. Today, he is based in Quebec, Canada.
