Gabriel Murphy is a serial entrepreneur who has founded and invested in a number of Internet ventures.
Mr. Murphy co-founded CommuniTech.Net (“CTNâ€) in April of 1997 and grew this Internet web hosting firm from a $1,800 investment to over $10 million in revenues and $2.3 million in annual profits while recording 16 consecutive quarters of revenue growth and profitability before its acquisition for $14 million in 2002. The firm was selected by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce as the 2001 Small Business of the Year and “Mr. K.†award winner. That same year, Mr. Murphy was named one of the “40 Under 40†Business Leaders of Kansas City and Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young.
In 2003, Mr. Murphy went on to found iNET Interactive, a social media company operating prominent online communities for technology professionals and technology enthusiasts. With an investment of $500,000, Mr. Murphy developed a sales & marketing umbrella for a number of high-traffic web portals focused on web hosting, web development and other related technology fields and consolidated them under one operating company. By late 2005, Mr. Murphy had consummated around a dozen acquisitions and grown revenues at a 60% CAGR. The company was then sold for $4.3 million to Stoddard Hill Media Partners.
In 2006, Mr. Murphy teamed up with Catalyst Investors, a New York-based private equity firm to acquire San Diego headquartered Abacus America, Inc. (d/b/a APlus.Net). Mr. Murphy was named Chief Executive Officer in July of 2006.
