Fumito Takashima joined JAFCO Asia in 2002 and is currently Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director. He was a key personnel in coordinating the fund raising exercise for JAFCO Asia Technology Fund II and JAFCO Asia Technology Fund III. In 2002, he spent one year in Malaysia as the Executive Director of a joint-venture company overseeing the Malaysian market.
Prior to joining JAFCO Asia, Fumito spent two years in JAFCO America Ventures, Inc. (Palo Alto, U.S.A.) as the Director and Executive Vice President.
Fumito started his career at JAFCO Co., Ltd. (“JAFCOâ€) in 1986 in the Investment Department responsible for sourcing and evaluating new investments. Thereafter, he spent 10 years in the Fund Management Department where he was engaged in the planning of funds structure and fund raising, fund’s investor relations, monitoring of portfolio companies and was involved in managing and analyzing funds’ performances. In the following 4 years up to 2000, Fumito was in the Corporate Planning Team and was engaged in JAFCO’s overall strategy planning in various aspects. He was also very active in promoting the venture capital industry together with government agencies and universities in Japan.
Fumito received his B.A. School of Politics from the International Christian University (ICU) in 1986 and his MBA from the Tsukuba University in 1992, both in Tokyo, Japan. He had been a Representative for Venture Capital Committee of Japan Academic Society for Ventures and Entrepreneurs. He was a member of both “Ventures and Start-ups Committee” and “Technology Transfer Organization Committee” organized by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
