Ethel Chen

Ethel focuses on early and late stage venture investments in enterprise software and infrastructure including areas such as big data, SaaS, healthcare IT, mobile and cloud.

Before joining NVP in 2008, Ethel worked at Index Ventures where she evaluated investment opportunities in technology sectors ranging from mobile and consumer Internet to open source enterprise software. Prior to Index Ventures, Ethel was a private equity associate at Clayton, Dubilier & Rice, where she conducted due diligence and assessed buyouts in the consumer products, healthcare and retail sectors. Previously, Ethel was a member of Morgan Stanley’s Media & Communications M&A Group, where she specialized in strategic advisory work for such clients as Comcast and AT&T. Ethel has also held positions at IBM’s Tokyo Research Laboratory and Netscape Communications Corporation.

Ethel holds an MBA from Harvard Business School, a master of science degree in management science and engineering and a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Stanford University.
