Richard graduated from Cambridge with a BA in Natural Sciences, and has a D.Phil. from Oxford. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Chicago and the Planetary Sciences Research Institute, following which he joined VG Instruments.
More recently, Richard spent six years at the University of Sheffield as Intellectual Property Manager, developing a broad patent portfolio that underpinned many of the University’s successful spin-outs. In 2001 he joined a leading venture management company as its Technology Transfer Manager for the northern region, working on deal flow, investment appraisal, and business development.
