Douglas G. Bergeron has been CEO of VeriFone since July 2001 when he spearheaded the acquisition of the company from Hewlett Packard in a transaction valued at $50 million. In April 2005, VeriFone became a public company and listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “PAY.â€
In the past nine years, VeriFone’s sales have more than tripled and the value of the company has grown to several billion dollars. Mr. Bergeron remains the largest private shareholder of the company.
Mr. Bergeron previously served in a variety of executive management positions at SunGard Data Systems Inc., including President of SunGard Futures Systems and Group CEO of SunGard Brokerage Systems Group. He was also President of Gores Technology Group.
