Doug Leeds is the President and chief executive of Dictionary.com, an operating company of IAC. He is responsible for developing, growing and managing Dictionary.com’s businesses and brands (including Dictionary.com, Thesaurus.com, Reference.com and Word of the Day email).
Previously, Doug served as Ask.com’s Chief Strategy Officer, overseeing Ask’s global business strategy, including corporate and business development. Prior to that, Doug ran Ask’s award-winning vertical search services including AskCity, mobile search, news search, blog search, maps and directions, and AskKids as Senior Vice President and General Manager, Vertical Search Products. Doug also managed Ask’s Bloglines group.
Before joining Ask.com, Doug spent close to five years at Yahoo! (including Overture Services), most recently as Vice President, Global Product Justice for Yahoo!, where he led the development of reputational products and services as well as oversaw product policy and legal compliance for all of Yahoo!’s products and services worldwide.
Earlier in his career, Doug held senior positions at mobile ISP OmniSky and mobile carrier Vodafone. He also founded BootSpace, an advertising software start-up, where he served as CEO.
Doug has served on the Board of Directors of TRUSTe and was a founding member of the Board of Directors of the Mobile Marketing Association.
He received his B.A. with high honors from the University of California, Berkeley and his JD, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center, where he was an editor of the Georgetown Law Journal.
