As CEO and Co-Founder of DescuentoLibre, Derek oversees day to day operations of the company. His key responsibilities include deal sourcing (national level), managing and training the Regional and Local deal advocates, marketing strategy, financial reporting, as well as developing strategic partnerships. Prior to co-founding DescuentoLibre, Derek was the President and co-founder of Eats Media. Derek built Eats Media from a local startup website and magazine in New York City to a foodie social media sensation within a few years. Derek’s role was to generate revenue for the magazine and eats.com through local and regional advertisers while building and managing the regional sales teams. Derek was instrumental in the sale of Eats Media to Delivery.com in 2009.
