Denis Somoso
Denis Somoso is a Filipino philanthropist, an artist, a poet, a green advocate, youth advocate, an accountant, and a leader.
A PUBLIC SERVANT
Denis Somoso is a passionate public servant. Since his adolescents’ stage, he is happy serving the public and was given a chance to join a Non Governmental Organization (NGO). He had been serving as a volunteer of the Iligan City Public Library (ICPL) and Iligan City Cultural Affairs Office (ICCAO) at the age of 17. If you could imagine a 17 year old boy co hosting a radio program tackling sensitive issues about the society, the community affairs, empowering women, children’s protection then you may think of Denis Somoso in his adolescence life. He is active in community information and been part of the weekend radio program of DXRJ 1476 KHz Iligan City “Adan ug Eba†(Adam & Eve) as a co-host which aired radio program is hosted by Ms. Anita Sescon and other co-hosts. He is often to wake up in the middle of the night to see what’s happening of his surroundings, and been a Red Cross free lance first –aider after passing the Philippine National Red Cross First Aid Training.
In event of the calamities, you could often find him in the middle of the road helping victims but avoid any publication of what he did and you could not find him from any news media article for his reclusive attitude to be known. His passion keeps him strong and molds him into a real person. When Typhoon Ondoy (KETSANA) Strikes to the Philippines; a non covered but unpopular figure could be found in the NGO office packing foods and relief good for the victims, giving strength and word of hope for the victims and been part of the GMA Kapuso Volunteering team.
He is often friendly and unpredictable. Sometimes he is a bit loud but more often he is so silence and focus. If you will talk to him, you would learn so many things that’s why many of his friends call him as “Walking Encyclopediaâ€. He is smart, knowledgeable in many things, technology wizard, and nature lover. He leads an environment advocacy group to pursue his dream of “Green Worldâ€.
A PHILANTHROPIST
Denis Somoso is a Filipino philanthropist. He is planning to build a government recognized foundation for his passion to help. He often use his personal limited income to offer help to many less fortunate children and often sponsored scholarships to poor but deserving students in the remote province of the Philippines. Recently, as confirmed from a reliable source, He donated computer Set to the Maria Clara Lobregat National High School (MCLNHS), Divisoria, Zamboanga City so that the students could use it in their library and laboratory. Such donation was recognized and accepted by Mrs. Imelda Amad a School Librarian and also confirmed by the MCLNHS Principal. They were so happy for such generous donation which they consider it as one of the special Donation because it’s not just computer but a quality computer that has a high specs compare to their computers issued from the government.
A GREEN ADVOCATE
Denis Somoso is also a teacher. Not a school teacher but an environment advocate teacher. He often educates his family, friends and community for the importance of preserving the nature. His basic teaching is about “The harm of burning plasticsâ€, “The benefits of planting and growing many treesâ€, “carbon Footprints issues†and many more. A PEACE ADVOCATE
Denis Somoso had been part of the international organization for peace advocacy. He been joining the group of people and signed to call for the peace in Gaza, and stop the war between Israel and Palestinians.
A PROFESSIONAL
Denis Somoso is an accountant. He graduated Bachelor of Science in Accountancy in the Masters Technological Institute of Mindanao (MTIM) and recently working on for his Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) in the Southwestern University (SWU). He is an Overseas Filipino Worker (Living Filipino Hero) and been working in Saudi Arabia and recently transferred to South Korea and Working in Hyundai Engineering as an International Taxation accountant.

Denis Somoso is a typical friendly guy. He loves to network and make bridges between families and friends to friends. He is a founder of a social network HIKOT or hikot.com a Filipino Owned Social Network which been launched last February 14, 2011. Prior to it, he owns at least 7 free social network site which gain popularity by thousands of members too.
