Deena Varshavskaya, is the Founder and CEO of Wanelo (“wah-nee-lo,” from Want, Need, Love), a social platform used by millions of people to find and buy products they love.
Originally from Siberia, Deena started Wanelo in 2010 with no funding or team after realizing how frustrated she was with the traditional shopping experience in malls. She wanted to know which stores and products her friends liked and decided to create a social platform dedicated to shopping.
Prior to Wanelo, Deena ran a boutique design agency based in LA. She’s also a college dropout, leaving Cornell only two classes short of graduating.
Deena was recently named as one of the 15 up-and-comers to keep an eye on in Vanity Fair’s Next Establishment list and was recognized as one of the “100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs” of 2013 by Goldman Sachs.
