Dean Terry

Dean Terry is a meta media artist, entrepreneur, and technologist with a background in digital arts and philosophy. He is the director of MobileLab which conducts research in next generation mobile technology with Texas Instruments, Ericsson, and other partners.

Dean is a professor in the School of Arts & Humanities at the University of Texas at Dallas where he teaches new media and emergent communications.

His film ‘Subdivided: Isolation and Community in America’ was released to critical acclaim. He writes and lectures on cultural, social, and technology issues regularly, particularly in the areas of mobile technology, online communities, and emerging media.

Mr. Terry was also co-founder and principal of PixelWave, a leading interactive media firm in Los Angeles, which he sold to AtomFilms (AtomShockwave). There he directed, wrote, and produced numerous widely viewed online projects. Mr. Terry also develops pioneering mobile projects with Microsoft and Nokia. He continues to create mobile media using video phones, networks, and installations.
