As VP and General Manager for Her Channel, David Wood is responsible for leading the Her Channel business, a scaled digital video distribution network for women, featuring top women’s branded content. Before joining DECA, David was a partner at Spyglass Ventures, a venture capital firm formed to invest in seed and early stage companies in the digital media and entertainment sectors.
Prior to Spyglass, David built and ran the digital media division at PorchLight Entertainment, serving as SVP and General Manager. He oversaw content acquisition of hundreds of hours of video programming and developed KidMango.com, an online ad-supported digital distribution portal for kids, preschool to age 8+.
David began his career at the Microsoft Corporation as a software engineer on Word and Excel, before moving into program management for the OS/2, Windows NT, and Exchange Server products. After business school, David focused on business development, creating new commercial pricing models and sales channels for Windows NT, Exchange Server, Microsoft Interactive Television, and Sidewalk.com, an early MSN Internet property for local city search.
David Wood holds an MBA from the Foster School of Business at the University of Washington and a BS in Information and Computer Science from the University of California at Irvine. He also studied music theory and composition full time at the University of Washington and has written professional film music. David is an avid tennis player and lives in Los Angeles with his wife and two children.
